"Fashions fade, style is eternal."

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

Statement Piece: The Cocktail Ring

Who doesn't love a big, honkin' piece of jewelry? I sure do... and to express that love I accessorize with, my current obsession, the cocktail ring; the perfect over-sized adornment! Alexander McQueen (his Swarovski crystal skull ring is my fav, fav, favv!.. shown above), David Yurman, and the mother of the cocktail ring, Kate Spade, all dazzle celebs with these rocks that rock! However, being peeps of a smaller town, realistically, we don't have $300 laying around for jewelry (well most of us don't!). So, I found a few affordable, adorable, alternative ideas! It's time to flaunt those fingers ladies and get some ring bling!

Look of the Day!

Woman shwiman! Let's talk about a hottie whose style makes you smile! With his perfectly tailored suits, perfectly coiffed hair, and perfectly structured face, this one's a looker. He's an actor, a playwright, an author, a painter and a graduate student (of ivy league), and he was James Dean? Need I say more ladies? However, between all this (and being my imaginary boyfriend) Mr. James Franco still finds the time to look down right sexy. In a 27 Hour Spotlight on James Franco interview/appearance yesterday, he rocks a navy v-neck, a plaid button up, a hooded cardi, AND a leather jacket.. pulling off the almost impossible with no trouble. ("layering outerwear is unheard of??.. pfft.. I'm James Franco you fools!") Here he is defying fashion gravity, being well, Franco. Gotta love him! Now wipe up that drool off your keyboard as I try to insert something clever!....

London Calling...

Due to the fact that my older sister recently relocated over the ocean, my mind has been skipping all around England, and really, all around the iconic fashion that has sprung from such a wee-lil' island. I mean Burberry, Stella McCartney, Matthew Williamson, and my current obsession, the always affordable (and soon to be stateside) Asos, are just a few outrageously chic brands across the pond! However, when I think England.. I think London.. and when I think London.. I think London cira 1975... which is why, for my look of the day, I have turned to her majesty of London punk, the national treasure, Ms. Vivienne Westwood! Sexy, dangerous, and over-the-top, Westwood never fails to put on an exciting show! Psychedelic swirls, grandmas stockings, and lots of splatter paint made it's way down the catwalk during her RTW Fall 2010 collection... but one can never forget the roots of this hard rocking lady, and the little pistols who Let it Rock and gave her SEX (look it up non-punk listeners!!!) So.. feeling nostalgic, I went to classic Westwood.. cause who can resist a little spray paint lettering (now graphic) and a torn up T (in this case a sweater) .. cause let's face it, we're all a little Vicious :) Never Mind the Bollocks and follow this link (look 13.. but all of it is genius!) as I try to insert something clever...

Look of the Day!

Oh Karl, you've outdone yourself (again), with the dark yet ethereal Chanel RTW Spring 2011 collection shown in Paris this past week. The line to me was very much Chanel gone Edward Scissorhands. Lots of unfinished and thready ends, re-vamped tweed patchwork, and shockingly, the classic 2.55 quilted bag minus the iconic metal chain strap (what is this madness you say?!?) It was replaced with an extra piece of quilted leather, still just a fabulous. The whole show was enchanting! But the moment that stole it all was when male model Brad Kroenig (ex-Lagerfeld muse) brought out a special guest to strut the runway with him.. his two-year-old son!!.. in, get this... matching Chanel outfits! Très magnifique!! Chanel, you have turned dressing like your dad into a cool thing. This is mind-boggling concept that I must attempt to contemplate as I try to insert something clever....

Look of the Day!

This really isn't just a "look of the day" for me... I can wholeheartedly say that I am utterly in head-over-heals love with these pants! Featured in Lucky mag, I saw these and my heart DROPPED... that's serious. These Heidi Merrick knit jersey pants are the perfect glam staple to an outfit.. while still being comfy!! I want want want (now someone loan me $319 as I try to insert something clever...)

Hallelujah! : Finding My Fashion Holy Grail aka The Perfect Infinity Scarf!

After weeks and weeks of searching for an infinity scarf (with absolutely no luck) I have finally found a beauty! I had tried all the local venues, (Target, Kholes, Walmart) but none of those stores has exactly what I wanted. Then, like a ton of bricks, it hit me!! Holy cow, what about American Apparel?!? They always have oversized, exaggerated clothing! And upon looking it up on their website, lone behold.... there was my perfect scarf. The unisex circle scarf is only $28 and comes in tons and tons of colors (my favorite is the navy) PLUS the website posted a neat-o guide demonstrating all the different ways you can wear it (shown below)! Check it out as I try to insert something clever...

Look of the Day!

Tribal prints are ALL OVER the 2011 Resort Ready-to-Wear collections that just recently hit the runway... but I think you should ditch the beach and rock these looks in the bitter cold!! Mix it with tights, gold bangles, lace up booties, and a sexy cape (I suggest the Chole' Contour Cape exclusivly sold at Saks!)... yum. What a delicious outfit! I ADORE this simplistic stretch sheath sloop-neck BCBGMAXAZRIA dress, very American Apparel. Enjoy as I try to insert something clever...

TGIF Dream Dresses!

Ahh... finally Friday! Was this a long week or what?... and a tough one at that! But now, the weekend is here and it's time to look gorgeous for a fabulous weekend! So, earlier today I was daydreaming (clearly a regular thing for me) and my inspiration came soon, my first muse, voluminous dresses. Not full on poof-tastic 80's prom, but cocktail dresses with one focal point of dimension. Then, I began to think about all the great fall trends that one could accessorize this style with.. thigh-high boots, tuxedo jackets, pearl and chain necklaces.. endless possibilities! And so my search began.. ending in finding this beautiful silk organza strapless ABS dress! It's very wearable, layer-able, and it's a neutral color (which is very runway right now: camel is dominating the catwalk!) . My next inspiration started with me thinking about mixed prints, which got me thing about mixed fabrics! What a luxe, sexy idea right? And I found this UNBELIEVABLE Alexander Wang that mixes velvet and chiffon! With a black ankle bootie.... this look could be a show stopper (I think I'm in love!) . What is your dress of choice for this crisp, fall weekend? Let me know as I try to insert something clever...

Team Taylor!!

Taylor Momsen is the good girl gone bad of Hollywood right now. The up-in-coming actress/musician is both the star of hit show Gossip Girl and front-woman of the band The Pretty Reckless. Where's the bad in this you ask? Well.. most of the verbal/cyber backlash has developed because of the young starlet's (at age 17 now) risque wardrobe showing a "female teenage rock star" image new to our generation. So, is she trashy, recycling used fashion of the past OR innovative and reviving a deceased trend? I have taken my side ... and I say you work that style Taylor and rock on!! Now, normally I would call people who fit into Momsen's age/image category (see: Miley Cyrus) talentless whores who needs to worry about finding a pair of pants more than their pathetic attempt at music.. harsh, i know. HOWEVER.... like ROCK STAR (not pop star) women of the past, Taylor is boldly fiery.. I mean, lets face it, she's a bad-ass. She's your quintessential femme teenage rebel, the chick who can kick you ass but still be just as sexy as your run-of-the-mill celeb. And, to be quite frank... I not only endure it, I love it! She knows she's not cookie cutter, not a great role model, but she sticks to who she is ... which takes one bad mamma-jamma! She's not dressing to be slutty like pop princesses of the past (who have adorned pigtails and chaps just to sell a few more records).. she's doing it because she's truly growing up and into her sexuality. I applaud her... (just like I applaud my icon Debbie Harry!) Way to kill it Taylor in a decade of generic ick!!! She has inspired me to buy lace tights, pink lipstick, and leather shorts! Plus, apart from her style, her band The Pretty Reckless, are insanely good!! She has got some phenomenal pipes for a seventeen year old!! Check out the videos of her wardrobe tour and live unplugged session below as I try to insert something clever.. (p.s. - if I had legs like Taylor, you best believe I would be showing off them suckers while I still could!)
